The Beauty & And The Beast

What looks like an oil painting is actually a digital enhanced image, produced as a piece of set decoration for 'Beauty and the Beast'. Mainly I used photoshop's 'Extrude' filter to create the look of thick paint on a canvas. Afterwards layers with 'Craquelure' and canvas textures where applied to add aging to the surface. The final image was printed 90 x 60 inches and needed resolution high enough to be able to reproduce all detail precisely (see picture below).

We now have the first look at footage from French language version of Beauty & The Beast. Director Christophe Gans is the man behind films like "Brotherhood of the Wolf", "Crying Freeman" and "Silent Hill". More to follow soon...
